Sacramento (Ajit USA) City of Sacramento seeks community input for the General Plan Update and Climate Action Plan through a virtual workshop. Join the City of Sacramento for a Sacramento 2040 virtual workshop which debuts big and bold proposed strategies that will guide Sacramento’s growth over the next 20 years. Community members can participate online from May 18 – June 5. Sacramento 2040 is the City’s blueprint for how and where it will grow over the next 20 years. It contains policies that guide everything from transportation, to the type of homes available, to jobs, entertainment, public safety, and much more.
“The first phase of the Sacramento 2040 effort was about identifying a shared vision for the City’s future growth and development,” said Remi Mendoza, Senior Planner and Project Manager for the City of Sacramento’s Community Development Department. “This next phase of public outreach will focus on prioritizing the most important strategies that will steer Sacramento towards becoming a greener and more equitable and livable city.”
The City invites community members from throughout the city to learn about and provide their feedback on six key topics including livability, mobility, climate action, environmental justice, economic development, and sustainable growth. Participants can learn about each topic through an informational video and respond to the proposed strategies through a short questionnaire. The virtual workshop is available at www.sac2040gpu.org.
Additionally, the City is hosting a student rewards program for Sacramento high school students who are interested in helping shape Sacramento’s future. The rewards program encourages students to virtually engage their friends, family, and neighbors in a conversation about their city’s future by participating in the Sacramento 2040 virtual workshop. The program will run in conjunction with the virtual workshop, and includes incentives such as raffle prizes and gift cards. Information about the student rewards program is also available at the project website.
